American Fellows
Being an American Fellow means feeling part of the Teatro Real as a patron and contributing to its growth, sustainability and the international expansion of its cultural legacy.
The Teatro Real, which is the leading institution of the performing and musical arts in Spain and the national opera house of reference, is one of the main Spanish cultural institutions, with a more than significant international projection. In recent years it has received numerous awards, including the International Opera Award for best opera house in the world.
The artistic project of the Teatro Real has made it possible for the institution to position itself as one of the great international centres of operatic activity and a point of reference for Spanish cultural institutions. Its artistic programming strives for excellence, taking care of both the traditional and contemporary lyrical repertoire, incorporating 20th century music and the latest avant-garde movements, with the firm conviction of offering the audience a place where they can discover the best artists and creators of today. It also pays special attention to new audiences and to the dissemination of opera among young people.
The Teatro Real in the United States
Since September 2022, the Teatro Real has carried out various artistic and institutional projects in the United States, within its Strategic Plan for Internationalization.
These have included two concerts at Carnegie Hall in 2022 and 2024 and at the Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall in 2023. Our Authentic Flamenco tour has also promoted this Spanish genre in the United States and other parts of the world.
Within the aforementioned plan, one of the key initiatives is the creation of the American Fellows of the Teatro Real, aimed at promoting the participation of civil society residing in the United States in the artistic and institutional activity of the Teatro Real, mainly in its projects in North America.

Alternatively, you may choose to donate to Allies of Hispanic Culture, Education and Science Foundation (AHCES), a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. As such donations made to AHCES are tax deductible in the United States within the limits prescribed by law. AHCES supports projects of Teatro Real at its sole discretion.
